Hi all.

Last time I was on I mentioned that the Hay we bought from P@H was pretty poor quality. Usually it's quite good. Well it was time to buy some more, and once again it's poor, so we got Timothy Hay.

Just wondering where you guys buy your hay and food. Thanks

I buy my hay from either Wilkinsons or Jollyes (I dont buy Timothy hay as my piggies refuse to eat it) and my dry food is from a pet food supplier local to me (Titmuss Foods)

my boys will only eat Scratch and Newton and Readigrass... Fussy things. i get the S&N at P@H and Readigrass at the local liveries.

My lot have the Hay from www.dustfreehay.co.uk and they love it! I can't fault the service and Norman is very helpful if you want swap quantities within the order :)

It might seem expensive, but if you compare it kg for kg with other brands it works out about the same even with delivery, which is usually next day. If you have the storage space I'd highly recommend investing in some!

I've been using this for a few years since the hay available locally was so changeable and frankly just plain rubbish!

If I got the 2 bale for £17.99 how much would I get for my money

I get my hay from the local pet shop but it is the Wilkinson's brand they stock- I always find it is a nice texture and length and also the only stuff they'll eat. I had to buy some from the supermarket over the bank holiday though and never again. It was awful; dry, dusty and had us all sneezing (piggies included!) x

just looked at the website and the hay looks quite good.

Nox, what hay would you recommend. the stalkier one or the soft one. at the minute i buy 6 small bags of hay from a local pet shop for 99p a bag and that lasts me about a month. :)

The Bales tend to weigh just over 2kg, so unless it states otherwise, you would be looking at just over 4kg of Hay for £18.

The Ten Bale pack is much better value for money at £40 for 20kg of Hay, which now I've put it like that sounds horrific but it's the best Hay I can get my hands on at the moment so I'm sticking to it.

As all prices include delivery I reckon the courier will charge as much for 4kg as for 20kg, hence the smaller packs being a lot more expensive?

It will probably depend what sort of hay your piggies prefer, we usually get a mixed lot 6 soft and 4 stalky so we can chop and change between them for a bit of variety, most of my piggies tend to prefer the soft though, if that helps?

Is that delivered? Or pick up only?

Has anyone ever tried the Bob Martin hay you can buy at Asda? It was just under £5 for 4kg and looked quite nice, but I didn't buy any last time. I am going to go to a farmshop this weekend to pick up some bales, it's £3 a bale, I hope the quality is good :). My boyfriend phoned the guy from the farmshop and he was very excited about his hay lol he said they sell 80 bales a day rolleyes couldn't tell us the weight or size though :)).
