Hiya all! My girls have been on fleece liners since I got them last year. It’s the best bedding and works so well for us. They have a great outdoor enclosure for the warmer months which I will be starting to transition them out to this week. But I don’t feel that fleece is the right choice for warmer days. What are your guys favourite substrate brands? So horse bedding that’s safe or dust free wood chips etc? Please send me your recommendations. Obviously on hot days they can be brought inside and if the nights are particularly cold over summer we have plenty of beautiful fleecey items to choose from (I have a bit of an obsession with fleece houses and tunnels and the girls just love them) I just want to choose the best substrate possible for the warmer days outside. Thank you xx

Mine are outside year round (well, in my shed). I use either aubiose or megazorb as my first options (both horse beddings but entirely suitable for piggies). Snowflake soft chip is another one I particularly like. I will use Snowflake shavings if I cant get the other options though.

Ah that’s amazing thank you! I’ve always wanted to have a big piggie shed. But the positioning of our shed is just not appropriate for our piggies as is the hottest part of our garden. I will look into those substrates. Thank you xx

Thats the issue I have with mine. It works brilliantly in winter as any bit of sun keeps the shed nice and warm but summer is a bit of a nightmare. I always have a back up plan though and the boys come indoors when it is too hot to remain in the shed. Like today (and the last few days) - If I'm home they are on the lawn. If I'm out, they come into the house in a spare cage. But can go back into the shed at night. During the height of summer, the shed sometimes doesn't cool down at all so they simply move into the house until it does and only go on the lawn early mornings and late evenings.

i like aubiose,bliss/raviera ,megazorb, littlemax shavings and snowflake standard which is 50/50 chips and flakes ! Ultimatley you need to try a few and see what works best for you and your piggies.
