Best Way To Exterminate Mites?

My three beautiful boars have mites. They're itching like mad, although no sign of hair loss or bad skin and they're happy to be handled.

I have two piggy remedies in the house; johnson's insecticidal shampoo and also beaphar ivermectin. Which would be the best to start them on? Going to de-mite them and a deep clean of their living quarters tomorrow.
 
With mites you are better to get a good quality ivermectin, treat once a week for 3 weeks. You can also get it injected at your vets if its a bad case. You can buy ivermectin online sure someone can post you a link, I can when I'm on computer on my phone at moment so no links. Beaphar is ok but in my opinion its not strong enough to get rid of them for good. The stuff I get from my vets you put drops on the base of the neck per 500g of body weight, not had a problem since with any of mine :)
 
Oh no! Its so annnoying isnt is. I would say that I didnt have much success with the spot on ivermectin the one time my pigs had mites, but the injection from the vets cleared it up very very quickly.
 
Gorgeous Guineas do lice & easy shampoo which says it works for hay mites but it depends if it is hay mites or mange mites, You would need to get a diagnosis from vet really if you do not know what they have

I would agree. Xeno is very good. The beaphar one has the same active ingredient but at a lesser strength if I remember rightly so getting the Xeno from your vet or online and following the recommendations for treatment would be the best bet. If that doesn't work then take a trip to the vets as they can inject Ivermectin if needed or suggest a different solution depending on the bug involved.

I do my boys with Xeno every so often just to make sure there are no stowaways on board!
