Hi everyone!

Just wondered what people had found the best way to get pet hair (guinea pigs only here) out of carpet?

Our home has long piled carpet throughout. The hoover does a pretty good job where their cage is but we hang up their laundry in the conservatory and the amount of hair that comes of it is insane. I hoover loads but of course it doesn't get all of it.

I'm thinking carpet cleaner or some kind of rubber brush or other tool?

I find the nozzle of a cylinder vacuum without any attachments rubbed hard across the carpet picks it up. A damp sponge is good too but my rugs aren't long pile which I suspect is more of a problem.

A silicone brush is good. You can get a cheap one off Amazon to try to see if it works for long pile carpets. Do you brush their laundry off before washing it?

Yeh we brush everything off as much as we can before it goes in the wash but a lot of hair remains despite how much comes off! We do this with a medium stiffness brush. We have a silicone one too but is doesn't get as much off surprisingly.

I also have like a silicone comb which I find is the best way to get it off but you have to lay the fleece flat. I try to do this periodically to get rid of more hair but it's an extra step. Nicer to do when the fleece is clean. I use laundry bags which stops any missed hair or little hay bits going in the machine.

Has anyone tried those longer handled silicone brooms? I'm not sure I see it being as effective as being on my hands and knees with a handheld one but it would be good to know as it would be a lot easier for a bigger area lol.

I do use the hoover nozzle too. It must be the pile of the carpet meaning some hair is harder to remove.
