*posting for a friend who is soon going to be in a temporary living situation and has 3 female piggies and looking for suggestions for good x pens, as well as a good idea for a base
preferably easy to move and in a square/rectangle formation and not too expensive

anything will help!
thank youu

3 need a 12sq foot cage and you’re not likely to get that size in commercial cages. Check Amazon for play pens. For the base you can use a plastic sheet (shower curtain or table cover) then put down puppy pads and fleece on top.

I use hamster run panels, I bought 2 packs. Tarpaulin on the floor topped with puppy pads and vet bed.

I saw the hamster playpen in pets at home and I just thought it might be a bit too short, have you had any experience with these?
are guinea pigs jumpers?

Some can be jumpers so better safe than sorry.

I have used them for years and none of my Piggies would even have come close to jumping over them!

My spare cage is c&c grids cable tied together (except the end two panels) so it concertinas up for storage, i just use some plastic sheeting which I bought off the roll from a garden centre. Put the plastic down, Unfold the grids and connect the end two panels - cage set up very quickly and easily for any situation.

One of mine is a climber and I know that the hamster pens I’ve seen would be easy for him to escape from

Poundland have plastic storage cube grids in £2 for 5 grids. You could make a decent size cage from 4 packs.

has anyone tried this? I am looking for a temporary indoor closure :)

I have had 2 of my piggies jump a 35cm C&C grid easily (there were females beside them) so a hamster pen would probably be too small and in the description of the pine edging it says its rot resistant which means it's been treated with chemicals so would probably be bad for a piggie to chew (most wood intended for outdoor use is treated with chemicals so would be bad for most animals to chew on).

What about the small puppy pens? I bought the large RAC pen for my bunny as he easily jumped 3ft at 16 weeks so 4ft seemed the best choice and as of yet he hasn't jumped over it. They do a small and medium as well.

RAC Metal Safety Pen

This is where I got mine from and it was about £27 for the large so the smaller one might be a good option with some tarpaulin or other waterproof sheet underneath then puppy pads and fleece on top. It came within a couple of days as well.
