Last night I noticed Betsy has a small lump on her back. It is near her spine almost in between her front shoulders. It moves up and down a bit if you stroke her a bit enthusiastically which is why I noticed it. I didn't notice it last week. I would guess the lump is about 1cm in diameter. I am hoping its just a sebaceous cyst. She has an appointment with the vet tomorrow morning at 9.30. I'll keep you all informed. I hope she's OK. I know you shouldn't have favourites but Betsy is just the loveliest piggie ever with such a sweet nature!Betsy says Hi.webpBetsy Lap time.webp Betsy relaxing 2.webp

I hope everything goes okay at the vets. Lots of fingers are crossed for you and Betsy.

It's okay to have favourites... I think we all do! :)

All the best! Good that you have her checked. Lumps usually come up pretty quickly, but most are thankfully harmless.

Awww, what a pretty girl! Hoping for the best at the vets. A lot of lumps end up being harmless fatty deposits or sebaceous cysts. Fingers crossed that is all it is!

Update time .....

The vet said it was probably a fatty lump not a cyst as it is under the skin. As it is so well defined and moves and hasn't attached itself to anything I'm to monitor it to see if it gets bigger or stops moving. If that happens he recommended a biopsy to find out if it is anything nasty.

I am sooooooooo relieved!:yahoo:

That's excellent news! So very happy for you.

That's great news! :yahoo:
These munchkins keeps us on our toes don't they!

phew! That is good news. Some fatty lumps don't grow at all but others can grow quick. My late Peter had dozens of them from around 18months-2 years old. He had an operation when the first one became quite bit but after that we left him be. He became quite a misshapen piggy but he lived to be 7 years old without the lumps and bumps causing him too many issues.

Wow! 7 that's a great age! My last 2 Lenny and Gizmo lived to 5 and 6 and I thought they did well. It's reassuring to learn that fatty lumps aren't dangerous at all thanks @Lady Kelly!
