Hi guys!
Last Sunday two baby piggies came home with me. I've noticed the past day or two that around their eyes they have a bit of crust. I've never seen it with my older two ladies hence me just querying whether it's normal or not. The amount and texture is similar to the sleep that we get in our eyes. Could it be that because they are very young still (I'd say 8weeks) that they haven't quite got the hang of grooming/cleaning themselves yet? I did attempt to take a photo but my cameras not the best and it didn't really pick it up.
The bit that concerns me is this morning when one of them was squeaking as I lay in bed it sounded a bit husky. Now I'm aware that some piggies simply don't open their mouths loud enough sometimes to wheek away "properly" so once again unsure whether this would be classified as normal as I've never heard my other piggies do it.
And finally I've heard a sneeze. Only the one. Which again could be normal as Maisie pig has had a sneezing fit before and was completely fine. Something just irritated her little nose!
There's no discharge around their nose. They're eating fine. I wouldn't say they are lethargic as they do move around but are also still in their skittish phase as well and are still doing a lot of hiding!
I'm worried about the potential of a RTI but as the discharge is only a minimal amount, the sneeze has only been the once (AFAIK) and in every other aspect, to me they look fine. I don't know whether I'm just worrying needlessly. I'm on the verge of putting them in their carriers as soon as they vets opens and taking them down but thought I'd post on here as well.
If anyone could just give me any sort of advice whether it be telling me that a bit of discharge in babies is normal or whether I should be going to the vets I'd really appreciate it.
