:( Oh crumbs! Poor you! You and your girls are really going through the mill at the moment! Sending healing vibes and wheeks and BIG hugs . I Hope things start to improve very soon. :tu::tu::tu:

Am really pleased that you have heart meds, hopefully you will notice an improvement shortly. Can I ask what dose she is on?

I'm sorry the news for Crunchie wasn't better, but hopefully the spay will sort her problems. I am possibly looking at this with one of my sows too.

So the fortekor is made into a solution.. If I'm understanding correctly it looks like 1/4 tab 2.5mg once a day.. I'm
Not sure if its 2.5mg in one tab or each dose its not very clear. and hes advised i drop the frusemide to 2mg twice daily

You're really having a tough time, but I'm glad Fudge is on diuretics, and that things are being investigated. I hope she makes a fast improvement and that Crunchie's problem can be resolved soon.
You're doing a great job.

So that's 0.625mg a day which is very low but ok as an introductory dose. Could you speak to your vet about splitting in 2 so she has it morning and evening? Is just that heart meds can wear off quickly with their fast metabolism. You may find she needs the dose increasing at some point. As a guide, the lowest dose my girls are on is 1.25mg a day (split in 2). A friend who used to run a piggy clinic at a vets has done lots of research on heart med dosing (and this has been approved by a number of vets) and so I can give you more info if needed to discuss with your vet.

I'm glad fudge is now trialling heart meds. My Ellie had 2x quarter of a tablet doses a day. Afraid I can't remember the dose will see if I still got it at home later.
Oh just found it- the same as Helens. 1.25 a day nelio (cat)
She also had frusimide as &when required for her crackly chest &hooting.

Sorry crunchie doesn't seem to have faired so well. Hopefully if her cysts have gone down then she will be more stable &pain free to operate on if needing a spay.

Fingers &paws all crossed for everybody.
Luv the girls &I.
Xx

I've seen a few articles online of piggs starting on a quarter tab once daily, and some even stayin on it. I think fudges possible kidney disease has made him start on a lower dose. It can always be increased but we cant reverse any detrimental effects if her dose is too high. I am skeptical as to wether it is enough, but i know i can tweak her frusemide as and when i need to- if i cant reduce her frusemide after a week or 2 of the fortekor then it will be clear it needs to be increased. She just done laps of her cage and popcorned a few times around ten minutes ago- it felt amazing to see and when i praised her in my squeeky mummy voice, she looked so excited! I'm hoping I'm on the right path with her. I have a horrible knot in my stomach however thinking about surgery for crunchie, and how ill she could possibly become afterwards. In saying that, she had a mild anaesthetic today for her procedures which included taking a urine sample straight from the bladder to confirm origin of the blood (from the uterus we now know), and she was eating, drinking and foraging less than an hour after coming round. You wouldnt know she been put under today- shes totally fine and chilling out with legs stretched out atm.

Thank you all for your support x
