I'm not even sure if this should be under Health and Illness because I don't think our piggies are ill, but the three older ones are just big. My bf had piggies as a child and our friend has two as well which are a little smaller. We got three from a breeder 1 1/2 years ago, Basil, Sparky and Patch. Their mother was quite big and they just kept growing. It seems like they have reacher their final weight now since it tends to go up and down just a few grams, but they kept growing for about 1 1/2 years. I was wondering if we feed them too much, but they are quite long too and I think if we put them on a diet, they would be too sinny. They just seem to be big piggies in general.

Last year Patch gave birth to three young piggies, Cotton, You and Spotty and they seem to be a little smaller. Last time we weighed them, the young ones were barely over 1 kg, Cotton being the smallest and You the biggest with 1195 g. Basil is the biggest pig of all, last time we checked he was 1354 g.

Does anyone else have big piggies like that? We're quite happy with them being that way since they are very healthy and active and happy piggies, but sometimes I do wonder if others are that big as well.

Thats perfectly normal, one of my boys weighs well over 3lbs now, but he's happy and healthy, and i know many other people who have pigs on this forum that are about the same weight (:

It's nothing wrong, just big pigs !

I do think some breeds are generally bigger than others (for example, Rex's), but yours sound fine to me. Just big pigs :)

Piggies come in all shapes and sizes. I have 6, the smallest is about 1062g and Panda weighs in at about 1500g (3.3lbs).

They are in the normal weight range for adult piggies.

If necessary, cut down on the amount of pellets you are providing. Adult piggies do not need unlimited pellets as they are no longer growing - half to a handful per piggy per day is enough.

when ditto went to the vet regarding a hay poke to the eye. The vet weighed him and said he was a big lad at 3kg.. I dont know if he ment pounds? But i dont really understand the scales if weights and so when he said 3kg it ment nothing to me. Anyway when i joined this forum and alot of members pigs are just 1.3kg and 2kg for example i started to realise that WOW ditto must be a big lad as the vet said :o he is really large boy thoigh everyone comments when thet see him.. And HE IS MOST DEFINATLY NOT FAT the vet said he is just a big lad in general.. Hes really long to lol.. My friend has a mini lop bunny and hes almost as big without the floppy ears lol!

My vet could hardly pick Logan up, he's almost 1600g and a bit of a lump. He's healthy though. Finn is the same weight give or take a gram or two, they are brothers and I think are just big boys!

My fully grown piggies range from 970g ish (Francesca) to the 1600g. Most are around 1200g, however I think my two teddies are going to be almost as big as Logan and Finn when they finish growing! rolleyes
