Squeakz

So since ive got my guinea pig he got used to me feeding him with salad and cucumber especially during summer. So each time i walked by him he would start squeaking and i would always give him salad or cucumber(other things he likes a bit less then these two) and he got used to that and he really makes a mess in his cage and every 3-4 day i have to clean it from him peeing and pooping everywhere
Could you tell me how to stop giving him so much food and how to stop him making so much mess in his cage he always wets all the places in cage:P

I don't think it matters how much you feed them they are still gunna poo like crazy!

Maybe not give him stuff as 'wet' as cucumber, might not make it so 'squidgy'... hehe

I think lettuce is a diuretic so would make anyone wee more. Try to give a variety of different veggies. Have a browse on here there is some really good info.

I am TRYING to make mine squeek when I walk past to feed them lol!
Mine dont want to make a noise or even be seen by me:(
Sounds like youve got a great buddy there even with the poop;)

mine are exactly the same, they know the sound of the fridge opening and they squeal like mad,its cute, but hard to get milk 4 cuppa without them thinking "VEGGGIEEESSS!":))

A healthy guinea pig pees and poos a lot more compared to us humans because it lives mainly on hay. You can't change that and need to prepared to clean him out regularly.

He should be on 50g mixed veg (and not just cucumber and salad), 1 handful of pellets if he is over nine months old (unlimited before) and as much hay as he can eat. The water in his bottle needs to be changed daily so there is no build up of algae. Here is a link to balanced diet to keep you piggy healthy:

How big is his cage? If it is too small, it is no wonder that he is in a real mess so quickly. He won't be able to help himself. He should have at least 7 square feet ( two guinea pigs need a minimum of 8 square feet).

Guinea pigs should not be on their own as they are roaming group animals that never stay long in one place (and hence do not need to be too careful about their hygiene).

yeah he squeaks jumps around biting cage, but i really need to know how to stop him eating so much because he is getting way fat,few months ago he was eatiing so much that he got so fat * could see his belly was big like he was pregnant!(he is male)because each time i go to kitchen he starts jumping around and he is soooo cute that i must give him food he is like begging!

Guinea pigs do make a lot of mess very quickly. It's just the way they are.

They also love eating and will ask for food all the time. It is up to you, as a responsible owner, to make sure they are getting a healthy diet and no more.

Think of it like being a parent - if I gave my kids sweets every time they asked, they would be way overweight (and probably with bad teeth). And if I gave my piggy a carrot every time he wheeked, he would be even more enormous than he already is :))
