SOrry but my little man didnt make it.

He went back to the CCT yesterday and was given some painkillers but didnt make it through the night...

I feel a sense of relief really that he is no longer in pain... I did have little cry though but i was at work so couldnt really have a cry...

SHe doesnt know what he died from, there were no blockages and it may have been kidney problems, he may have ingested something but he hasnt had the opportunity to eat anything wrong for him. It doesnt seem to be the mites that did it either i think.

I have one more decision to make whether to let Vedra have him cremated down there and his ashes scattered in the pet garden of peace (i think thats what she called it) or see if anyone from here is coming up the M6 from that direction to bring him back as i cant go up there again for at least 2 weeks...

i think its a long shot anyone being able to drop him off on their travels so it looks like he wont be coming back to me :(

Thank you everyone for being very helpful, concerned and kind when i have become a bit hysterical...

I am going to post in the memorium thread later...

I'm so very sorry to hear this.

I do hope you can find a way to have him brought back to you. You two should be together.

Sending you love xx

Oh Jane I am so, so sorry - I really hope someone can help bring him back to you. Sleep well Bigbum, ((((hugs)))) to you Jane xx
8...8...8...8...

I'm very sorry you lost Bigbum. I have been following his progress and hoping for your little man like many others, but his time had come. Wishing you peace and happy memories, Sarah

I'm so sorry to hear that he passed, it is such sad news. Huge *hugs* to you, and Jacquie too. Rest well, dear Bigbum. xx

I don't know if you would consider it, but since I live local I could collect his ashes for you (make sure Vedra knows!) and hand them over when you are able to pop down. I am only up the hill at RAF Wyton, so same distance for you to travel. I can't bring him to you, but if you do want him back with you, I am happy to watch over him until you are able to collect - we could either meet at the CCT or you could pop by my home.

I've just posted on the other thread but just wanted to say, I think it's important you get to take your little man home where he belongs. Maybe what Laura has suggested could be the answer. x

Yep i have just pm'd you Laura :) I was worrying about him not being able to come back to me if he died and now it looks like he can :)

I am just trying to catch up with threads on here, so I am sorry that I didn't know about Bigbum being unwell.

Run free, Bigbum xx

So sorry Jane.
Was thinking about you all today
hugs
RIP bigbum
x

I am so very sorry Jane, my thoughts are with you & i too think your lil man should come home to you

I have spoken to vedra eariler and she is able to freeze him so i can pick him up in 2 weeks.

To have him soley cremated means having to pay the crematorium £100 and more which she understandably doesnt do and i would need to arrange which i obvously cant do.

Is it weird that i am having him frozen until i pick him up?!

As I said in my PM Jane, it's not weird at all. If it works for you, then that's how it has to be. I use the Cambridge Pet Crematorium and they charge £90 for an individual guinea pig cremation, complete with nameplate, casket/urn/keepsake box of your choice, beautiful presentation box etc. While they are expensive, they do a beautiful and touching service.
Some places do cremations for as little as £30 though, so maybe ringing around your local area you could come up with a far cheaper option.

Hi Jane I'm so glad he's coming back to you. All animals (& us)have to frozen when they pass otherwise they start to decompose (sorry for the image) so it's perfectly natural. Speak to your local vets and see if they can recommend an animal crematorium so you can see whats available to you.
Take care

xx
