Hello

Thanks to everyone for the advice regarding the play pen situation, this is now sorted with me buying a hutch and using the cage part of a nero 2 as a play pen underneath a coffee table with a fleece and some treats, even had some pop corning off them. The new problem I have is that I want them to get used to being handled and so when we are watching telly we get them out of the hutch and fuss and stroke them, this is all good except that Lenko wants to hide in the fleece and makes this cooing sound until he gets his way and Crumpy will lie there for about an hour and then will start and bite, nothing hard but he will run up your chest and bite your nose, he has bitten my husbands fingers a few times, please can some one tell me how much handling should they have a day and also whats with the bighting from Crumpy and the cooing from Lenko{:|

If your piggies bite or seem to get restless and unsettled it probably mena sthat they need a wee. Piggies have to sit a special way to pee, and its uncomfortable for them to do this on a human lap, so most piggies tell you when they need to go, they don;t care much about leaving droppings on you though.

I'm not sure about the cooing, my two do that sometimes, and I usually get the impression that their talking to each other, if I have Chewie out he'ss squeak at Spike to let him know where he is, sometime he just likes to make noise.

As for handling, I usually handle mine once a day, mainly to groom them and just give them cuddles, handling everyday isn't essential, I'd say they should be handled at least every couple of days.

The biting from Crumpy is himbeing nice, it is probably because he needs the toilet and is trying to let you know by biting you. As with the cooing from Lenko it may be because he is not used to you yet, I would hold him in short yet regular bursts to start with to let him get used to you.

Hope this helps,

Jon!
