I had just come in from the garage after feeding guineas and I thought, omg, there is bird got shut in the garage and it is making a chattering noise. I went to have a look and it was Jessica, my ginger nut guinea:)
sat by the ramp at the top of the hutch chattering away and it sounded just like a bird. Has anyone ever heard this type of noise from their guineas? I have never heard it before.:)p

Ooh you're very lucky! It's known as the 'guinea pig song'

Nobody knows for sure what it means or why they do it but it's said to be that they're very happy :). Some people own piggies for years and never hear that lovely sound! ;)

My Willow is quite a singer though and has done this at least five times in the last twelve months! :)

Feel blessed - you have a "singing" guinea pig!

Why some piggies do it, nobody knows, but to hear it is wonderful.

Great sound one of my piggies tends to do it in the early evening. I made a recording of it just in case she never does it again!

jake's sang twice & all the others stopped what they was doing was very strange but lovely x>>

now he just sends me thoughts when he wants something :p

My Yin used to sing all the time.

But now she only does it on occasion. You're right, it does sound just like a bird and most people will think there is a bird in the house until they see it comes from the Guinea.

It's great!, isn't it?

Thanks guys, know I know what the chattering meant I really do feel very honoured, especially as she had a very large tumour removed from under her chin a few months ago. That has made me very happy as at first I thought she was in pain.:)p:)p
