Hello everyone

I've finally got some good news! I took Birt the vets on Thursday and saw Jen the guinea pig savvy vet. She said she had heard a lot about Birt ( think I may have been mithering a bit too much! ) anyway she looked at him and said his fur and skin is slowly but surely clearing up. She gave me saleen shampoo and told me to do this once a week over three week.
Saturday just gone and gave him the dreaded bath, and although he didn't like it, I've inspected his skin tonight and his back has cleared up loads. It's not red, no dry patches, he's not even itching anymore! I am just amazed.

He's still quiet but I do think this is down to him having a shoddy life to begin with and being taken away from other piglets in pets at home.

I let him meet Gertrude - I had hold of Gertrude and let him come over but he started teeth chattering so I put Gertie back. I wasn't sure if this was an aggressive sound or anything else like he found a lady friend to frolock around with?

Next thing I think is slowly introduce them but unfortunately for Birt get his plums taken off...

Thank youuu all! Hopefully won't be posting in his part of the forum for a long time now! Think it's the only part ive been in since having Birt but onwards and upwards!

Please do not introduce them until Birt is safe for that 6 weeks after the snip. Ideally, they live next to each other with interaction through the bars once Birt has been given the all clear with his skin problems. That way, they can become used to each other on their own terms and learn to interact.

Here is a list of behaviours; mild teeth chattering is a rather defensive gesture and means "Stay away from me!"
