Hi all,
Now semester's over, I've got a little more time before we go away on Monday to post an update about poor Biscuit.
We managed to get another urine sample. This time it came back fairly normal but with slightly high levels of calcium and protein. The vet is confident that the blood in his urine before was caused by minor calcification - in other words he hasn't had so much calcium in there to form large crystals or stones and so his X-rays came out clear every time.
This is good news I suppose in that he won't need surgery. We will need to consult with the vet when we get back after Christmas about how to manage this now and I suspect Biscuit will be put on a very strict diet. The vet thinks also that the pellets that Biscuit's eating may be a potential problem but we can discuss this more when we get back.
In the meantime, thank you all for all your wishes and healing vibes. Biscuit had lost about 100g last time he was at the vet's but I think he's put this back on pretty quickly. He seems back to his normal self in terms of energy levels, playfulness and general craziness which is great.
Loads of love and merry Christmas from the four of us xx
