Biscuit Has Collapsed

She has had a good night, no screaming in pain, curled up asleep and the rest slept around her.

This morning she has requested a Zimmer frame is threatening to report me to the JSPCA because I’ve spread the towel out and I’m making her shuffle (not far) from one pile of food to another.

Sadly yes, which what led us into adding 3 pigs rather than one. We started with Jet who was depressed without Dozy (my avatar), I searched for over a month for a companion. On the day I called a local pet shop (with ties to a rescue) and asked them to get 2 little ones (because Jet has a tendency to be wonky for no reason I wanted 2 just in case), I was offered Biscuit, 6 years old and her pal had died. She arrived that weekend neglected full of lice and lumpy (which was later diagnosed as kidney cancer). She has had a couple of months of absolute love ❤️. We didn't cancel the little ones - which is what started the whole illness hell. To be honest she has loved every moment in with Jet and the babies. I find them waltons style 3 in a hide.
Just keep up the LOVE! x
Maisie that I rescued aged 7 has enlarged lymph node in her neck but Vet felt she was too old and frail for anaesthetic s But is still going strong and being Matriarch to her 3 adopted babies!
Sometimes our love and devotion helps!
A happy life with your devotion is obviously helping her so much!

She has been hobbling about today so that is a relief! She still isn’t right but she is no longer stuck on her vetbed. I just need her to be more steady on her feet.

Good that she is getting about more whether hobbling or otherwise!
Hugs to both. Xx

She had a run this morning (which is unusual even when she is feeling OK - she is a conservationist - conserve energy at all costs). She no longer looks like a hedgehog - all puffed up and spiky. I am so relieved. Last night she did veg hording - which involves taking your favourite bits of veg back to your den to enjoy later.

I think she is feeling better now. While Biscuit was ill Ziggy made a bid for top pig, clearly the power went to Ziggy's head and last night she forgot herself. She tried to share Biscuit's hide (which Biscuit will allow ON HER TERMS) and Biscuit came up to her and tried to nose up Ziggy's chin, Ziggy resisted and resisted another 3 times, Biscuit nudged her and tried one last time, Ziggy must have left her brains elsewhere because she resisted again and didn't move away, the next thing I see is Biscuit snap her teeth, lunge and throw Ziggy out the hide with her nose! Half an hour later Ziggy had clearly given in and was cuddled up with her. The matriarch is back.

Please provide me with a wall to bang my head against, whilst cleaning them out Ziggy had a mad 5 min zooming round the upstairs, careering into Biscuit and Binky, bowled Binky right over, Binks did a full 360 flip, then Ziggy ran over her on the way back and Binky is now limping......

Sounds like you're having fun!

How is she this morning?

Biscuit is still a little stiff but so much better! I’m debating how long to carry on the metacam - she is prescribed it anyway for the days when the lumps cause pain. I’ve ordered some oxbow joint support too. I may keep the painkillers up until the weekend then see how she is.

Binky isnlimping but happy. I’ve had a look and a feel she isn’t screaming or showing pain when I touch her leg. I’ll give it 48 hours and see where we are.

Our pigs seem to find new ways to worry us each day. Hope they manage to inflict no further injuries on each other today!

I've had words with the young lady - she responded by climbing into my dressing gown, it then took me 10 min to remove her.

Off to the vets with Binky as she is still not putting weight on the foot. May take biscuit as although she is mobile she has lost a lot of weight.

Sending love. We have had piggies on metacam LONG term and it worked wonders x

Biscuit has collapsed again. She isn't distressed this time just not very mobile. I will make an appointment with the vet as soon as I can (we are still giving pain meds) but I am now thinking that this is the cancer and not a strain. It may be time to say goodbye soon - thing is she is still alert and happy just not mobile.

Oh dear how very sad @Katiedid. You know Biscuit the best and I am sure you will do what is best for her. If it is her time to wander off over the Rainbow Bridge then you will know she will tell you when.

Oh no, so sorry, sending lots of love to you both, please let us know how she gets on. Hugs x
