Thats such good news, I'm so happy for you :). Hope he keeps on track once home!

following this thread from afar. Nothing helpful to add but would just like to wish Biscuit well...

awwww well were not going to see you tonight then are we??!

Such brilliant news, spoil the little fella x :)

"Hello ...my name is Ginger

I was recently in the vets for 4 weeks due to a stubborn wound. I had the attentions of all the vet nurses (and a lovely female locum vet too) ....I was soooooo popular that the male vets said to my mumy they were expecting to see me on the front page of Hello next month...(personally i think it was just jealousy ) ....and when i came back out I was so used to all the attention from the girlie nurses that I needed loads of cuddles and lap time..at least three times a day..... otherwise i would disturb everyone with my wheeking "

Hmmm good luck hun - really glad to hear he's doing well...and hope the re-adjustment goes OK

Seriously though - he's still got small droppings etc - so best keep an eye on him and syringe feed if necessary (or even just make the decision to top him up for a few days with Recvoery or Critical Care regardless) til he gets back to full fighting strength...after all....he's about to go through another change in environment (ie from the vets back to you)....and we know some piggies don;t do "change" that well.

I give some of my recovering piggies a whole dessert spoonful of CC daily (they hoof it down off the spoon) just to ensure their poos keep moving etc.....

Oh BTW - it would appear that Ginger is actively "seeking and wheeking"his new friend "Uncle Biscuit" while sitting on my lap as I type this ...:(|):(|)...Hmmmmm Looks like Biscuit has a new adopted nephew :(|)

x

Thanks everyone :)

@Pebble: Unlce Biscuit is very flattered :) although he's in need of a lot of affection himself at the moment

Biscuit is doing ok. His droppings are normal consistency but still about half their normal size. He seems to be eating more hay and chewing his alfalfa hay treat which is good. I've also got some Supreme Science Recovery liquid feed for him which he absolutely hates.

Apart from all the syringes and drama around medicine time, he looks to be on the mend. His current medication is:

Marbocyl (AB): ) 0.4ml x1 per day.
Zantac syrup (gut): 0.23ml x2 per day
Maxolon syrup (gut): 0.4ml x3 per day
Metacam (anti-inflamatory/pain relief): 0.5ml x 2per day

On top of that I have to get a sachet of recovery liquid feed in him so he's not best pleased right now. Still, after a cuddle and a bit of parsley he's purring again and it's great to have him back home. :<>

Thanks everyone for all your wishes and concern as ever - you're great :) x>>

Does anyone have any tips for getting a piggy to eat the Recovery liquid feed? Biscuit seems to really dislike it but, since he is not quite eating his usual amoount of normal food yet, he has to have it to keep his strength, immune system and weight up.

Any tips at all would be great :)

Sorry no tips on the recovery food, we actually had to stop Dodge eating the syringe feed stuff he was given after his op after he tried to chew threw the syringe to get more...greedy guts...

My only idea would be to chop parsley up really small, as if you were putting it in a caserole for people, and sprinkle it in?! Random but you never know!

Glad Biscuit is ok, big big hugs for him, what a brave boy!

Have only just caught up with your thread, my heart goes out to you and yet so pleased to hear biscuit is now on the mend, Best wishes :)p

Hi everyone,

Firstly, I'm sorry for not being around recently but, of course, I've been spending a lot of time with the boys - especially since my wife is away at the moment and I'm doing twice the work!

I just wanted to give you all an update on Biscuit's condition. He came off his medication on Monday night. So far he is acting much more like his normal self and is pretty much back to full health.

He is passing droppings pretty frequently and regularly. They are still much smaller than normal but the vet said this may take time to return to normal.

I wanted to say a big thank you to all of you for your very comforting comments and concern. We really appreciated it and I'm sure your positive vibes helped Biscuit get back to good health. Now if I could just stop him eating my trousers....

Oh, I'm so happy he's doing so well :) Great news! Lets hope he keeps it up.
As for the trousers...well...at least he's eating :))

Eating your trousers, that's funny. So so pleased he is back to normal.

So pleased that Biscuit is improving. I'm sure he will get stronger day by day. I know how worrying it is when you have a poorly piggy. Hope you can feel relaxed a bit more and not worry so much. Take care. xx

Hi everyone,

Biscuit seems to be doing much better and is much stronger than last week for sure. However, I have seen him just fall over a couple of times. This might be to do with - A: we have laminate floors and they haven't got great traction and - B: could he be vitimin C deficient? I imagine with all the digestion problems and allergic reaction to the engemycin that this could be possible.

Has anyone else had falling piggies due to a vitimin deficiency - I read that this can happen?

Glad to hear that biscuit is on the mend. Sorry I don't know anything about vitamin deficiencies but I can give some advice on the trousers: change into your cut off denims and Biscuit will do a lovely job of trimming the ends. One of my pigs gave my shorts a nice tidy trim in the summer!:))

It's great that Biscuit is doing so much better now! Bounding around the laminate can make a piggy fall over. However, if you worry about vitamin C deficiency, you can give him additional vitamin C, best by dissolving a bit of a tablet in a little water and then syringed directly - that way you can control the input.

Here is more info on vitamin C deficiency (scurvy):
