Sorry to throw a spanner in the works, but as a fosterer myself, I felt I had to prove myself responsible enough and committed to caring, BEFORE I was given the opportunity to take in rescues for Sokel and Becklen. I do not consider fostering to be a lesson in how to care for pigs and hopefully make me more responsible. Not all, but certainly most of the piggies I have had entrusted to me, have had pretty poor starts in life, and I don't think it appropriate to give these to people to 'prove themselves' on. xx
well I'm sure you'll be glad to hear i have decided against letting her have them....but, we've made a deal that she can come here 2 days a month and help me out with the animals....so she gets to spend a little time with the piggys..and i get free help with cleaning everyone out 2 days a month (it would be nice if i had help every week, but I'm not complaining!)
win win all round i'd say![]()

i agree exactly what i was going to sayPersonally I would say no. If she didn't have the time/money for the chinchillas then how is it going to be different for guinea pigs.
The best way is to find out about rescues in your area, hopefully you can adopt from them yourselves, then just keep in touch with them. Let them know your plans, and I am sure they would welcome your help. xxHi Nutmeg,
I totally agree with you if you can hand ocer 6 pets because you cant look after them, how can you expect to leave with 2 ? mallethead
Hopefully in the future and once we are confident with the piggies we will be getting as soon as our plans have come to fruition, my husband and I would love to become piggy foster parents, though unsure how we would go about it.
I definately wouldn't even entertain the idea of rehoming to this person and I personally wouldn't have anything to do with her in the future either.
I take my hat off to you that you are even letting her help you out in the rescue - I simply couldn't work with someone that didn't share my values, let alone let them handle any of my rescue piggies.
I hope it works out for you, well done though, you must have a very generous heart![]()
