Poor archie has some bloat it seems. He wasnt eating or drinking much yesterday evening and was puffed up in a corner, then this morning didn't want his cucumber!
So off to the vets we went, I was convinced he had a bladder stone as he hadnt peed at all.
But luckily after the examination and an xray, he was found to have trapped gas.
He hated having the injections too and cried :(
He has 3 different medications to take, and he has been eating and drinking (and pooping and peeing) since coming home and has perked up since then. He goes back on wednesday.

Glad that you have caught it in time.

Here is our bloat care guide: Bloat, Gi Stasis ( No Gut Movement) And Not Eating

Very glad the vet could see us so quickly. He had dropped 100g since we last weighed him :yikes: Luckily he has been eating lots in the past few hours, I gave him some bio lapis too.
I think it was my fault, I put lawn fertilizer on the grass a few weeks ago because the lawn barely grew at all last year, I did it just before that week of very heavy rain, so I had hoped that it was well rinsed in by the time we put him back out there, the box said 2 days but I left it over a week just to be safe. But I guess the fast growth aspect was all in the grass because it shot up and its only been mown once, I wonder if because he had been grazing for about a week or two it just overwhelmed his gut.
The other thing I noticed was those poops they eat, his ones were smelling more and more like beer, so I guess he was fermenting :vom: I do hope the grass calms down abit once its been mown a few times because he adores being outside.

Be careful to make sure that any chemicals have grown out fully and not to introduce your piggy to the lawn and rich, fresh grass too quickly.
Feeding Grass And Preparing Your Piggies For Lawn Time

All the best! Make sure that you rebalance the guts with lots of dry fibre.

Hes eating hay right now :) How long do you think it would take for the grass to be safe? He is very used to grass, he goes out nearly daily (not in terrible weather of course) for his whole life, its his favorite food.

3 times mowing/ca. 4 weeks. You want to be rather careful in the wake of a bloat, as too much too soon can trigger it again.

He is doing much better today, deflated a bit, decent amount of eating and drinking and rushing around, lots and lots of cuddles and he even bit daddy XD He really hates all this syringe stuff, lucky he forgives me

Well his appetite is very good but I can't tell how much he is pooping because he gobbles them up as soon as he's done them. The occasional few I have seen look a bit small but overall healthy, how long will he keep eating all the poop?

The vet noticed one of archies back teeth is slightly out of alignment and seems to have made a tiny sore patch in his mouth, they think thats what caused him to stop eating and get the gut stasis, so he will go back on wednesday so they can have a good look, but basically he is fine. We are taking bikbok there too for a claw clip :yikes: Hope he behaves himself.
