I've recently noticed a bit of hair loss round one of Daisy's eyes. There is no crustiness and no hair loss anywhere else. She is behaving normally although she is rumbling at her cage mate Maple a bit more this week. However, we have just moved in to out new home so hoping this is due to that or her being in season. (Can they still be in season at 6 years old?)

Anyway here is a picture of the affected eye..

She hasn't been in contact with any other animals apart from her cage mate so hoping it's not ringworm.
After she washes herself, there's often a bit of cleaning fluid left sitting on the bottom of the affected eye (this isn't new) would this cause the hair to thin out?

Thanks in advance :)

I would get her checked out. Ringworm can be transmitted from humans, via hay, and even brought on via stress iirc. No contact with animals doesn't mean she's safe from ringworm unfortunately.

I agree it is best to get her checked, hopefully it is nothing but best to act promptly with even the tiniest risk of Ringworm.

Yes they can still be in season at 6, my oldies still cause chaos.

My older boar's eye started to look like that when he was 6. The vet checked it out and it was nothing to worry about. I assume that he wasn't cleaning it properly, or his eye wasn't secreting the fluid as well. But, at that age I'd prefer to give them a wellness check at the vet regularly

Thanks for the reassurance :) got an appt with the vet for tomorrow morning

Hi,

That looks like how mine started...it was ringworm and acting hard and fast was key. It might not be but being prepared for this outcome can only help.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
