As I'm new to all this!

We got Hettie on Sunday and she was obviously timid being in new surroundings. It is now Wednesday and we can already see a difference in her. She no longer runs and hides when we go into the garage and will happily come out and eat when we put down their food.

Tilly is doing a lot of bum sniffing (Hettie's not her own!) and Hettie isn't liking it, doing that very loud noise that sounds like annoyed purring, a bit like a motorbike starting up!

Tilly persists though and it ends up with Hettie running away from her.

Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Thank you.

Take it easy; so far it all sounds very much in the green! ;)

They are lying together in the outside run.I need a Valium! :))

Ha ha, know what you mean! We don't have piggy dating here so introducing my 2 boys was potluck. When it was finally time to chance the cage together, I was so paranoid about fighting I enlisted the help of 2 other family members & we took it in shifts to keep a 24hour watch on them the first day. I of course took the midnight shift as I couldn't sleep for worry anyway.

Haven't seen any butt sniffing today!

Hettie seems to make the motorbile revving noise when she is annoyed! I locked them both in the hideaway today so I could catch them easily to put them outside and she started making the noise then!

It's either rumblestrutting (mild dominance) or - if it is short and low - expressing displeasure, but nothing you need to worry about.
