I didn’t see anywhere to post urgent so this is the best I could do. I allowed my Guinea pig males a second time chance at being reunited, but they started rumbling and chasing so I took one out, leaving the other still in the cage. The one escaped as I was putting the other down on the floor to finish setting up their cages, he ran up to the one I had just placed onto the floor, latched onto his head and they started rolling, luckily there was a towel right next to them so I quickly grabbed it and separated them. Only one goth injured, a chump of hair ripped out and a nasty bite. He wasn’t squealing in pain, I checked him over, I don’t think it’s to bad. My mom said to just let it scab over, I dabbed up some blood with a paper towel. Is there anything else I should be doing. He’s still eating and acting normal, I’m just shocked at how fast that happened.
Are there any creams I can put on to reduce pain and chance of infection?
(Sorry the photos aren’t to good, I don’t want to play with his hair to much and hurt him.) I feel so, so, so guilty.

I’m sorry to hear this, and I’m sorry to hear that they are definitely not compatible.

You can clean the wound but the best thing is to have a vet check it over if it is deep. It obviously depends on the cut as to whether he needs pain relief and antibiotics.

The bite is not deep, we will keep an eye on him and take him in to the vet if needed. I was just wondering if there was any topical creams that are safe for Guinea pigs.
Thanks ❤️

I cleaned it up and it’s looking a lot better, I think it was mostly bleeding from chunks of hair being pulled out. Poor guy. He’s pretty happy though since he got some carrot.

Poor little man, hope he heals up well. At least you know that they are not compatible but they can live in side by side cages for company
