I have not been on here in a while but I got out my boar to groom him and noticed a small wound on his back and he has lost some fur there. He has been in with my other boar for a while now and for the past week they have both been teeth chattering which is making me think its from a bite and the fur has been pulled out. Its only small but it has been bleeding. They were both getting along really well up till the teeth chattering. I am worried I am going to have to seperate them because I know it will cause an argument with my dad and he will want me to rehome one of them :(

It does not look infected and will post pics in a bit.

Ok another post, sorry I have him out on my lap right now so checking him over, just found a mite infestion, his back end is crawling with them! I don't have a clue where he got them from because they have not been outside and the only difference is that I he has been on sawdust lately

Oh no, poor boy :(
Can you get him to a vet for treatment ?
If not, I have used a Spot On (most pet stores sell it) as an emergency once which did the trick. Remember to treat all piggies and thoroughly scrub the pens, bedding washed on a hot wash etc.
Vets are the better option though.
Keep us posted :)

I'm reading up on guinealynx and he definately has fur mites and loads! Poor thing he came to me with mange mites and had to be treated for that in January and now he has this! I don't have a clue where he got them from but on guinealynx it says to use ivermectin. Will probaly go back to the vets again with him :(

They can get static mites from their hay. Where do you get their hay from? I would change the supplier as soon as you can & bin what you have :(

I have been using meadow hay, and I don't know the name of the other bag but both of them I have been using it for a long time. The meadow hay got given to me free and was already half used.
