Hey everyone :)

About 2 weeks ago my 2 boars had a falling out and nipped each other (minor flesh wounds, but cleared), and as a result I've split them up. They both have their own separate kitchen areas in lofts, and their own living/running space and for the most part seem to be okay in their own space....

At 4 months old, I dont want to completely shut them off from each other by having a big solid divider so that they cant see each other. I'd like them to see, smell and interact with each other (safely). It's just nibbles is a biter, and really goes at it at the C&C bars.

I know that at 4months its kinda like their teenage years so hormones etc.... but is there an alternative to using correx to prevent the bar chewing, bearing in mind I still would like them to bond (allbeit through a divider)

Thank-you.

I know this sounds really silly but is there correx along the bottom of the divider like the base tray around the edge of the cage? I had to separate my boars previously (they're now back together) and found they bit the bars less if there was a definition of where one cage ended and the next began. I know it's strange.

no, the divider is 2 grids cable tied together. I tried with a double thickness 2mm correx (4mm effectively) along side the divider but they went out of their way to chew at that.

as a last resort I have a base of a draw from a chest of draws that I can cut and sand smooth, and when I did it before, the chewing of the bars stopped, but that leads to them not seeing each other, aside from lap time and cuddles and being hand fed parsley :P etc, even then they need to be separate or they teeth chatter at each other and get really scatty.

I think though it might be for the best until they are out of this stage.

I don't like bar chewing as I worry about teeth and jaw injuries. So, I used a see through piece of plastic (it was 2 plastic parts from a cheap A3 size photo frame) to cover the grids. They could still see each other but couldn't chew.

Molly and Lily chew the bars too and do not like each other. I didn't want Molly to feel isolated but didn't want her damaging her teeth on the pen bars that separates them, so I have plastic lids between them til they get a big older.
