Not sure if this is the right section. Sorry.

I recently aquired 2 new piggies both about a year old (supposedly )

They live next door to my group of 5.

Squidge the smaller one has starred biting the bars of the cage on the dividing wall. Usually when the other cage are sleeping/not near her. She has a friend in with her but I can't help thinking she wants to join the others.

What to you think?

I have tried them together it didn't go well I'm wondering now they've has more time next to each other if it's worth trying again?

Because I have lots of piggles next to each other I get this a lot I use an animal friendly bitter apple spray. One chew and they are recoiling from the bad taste more toys also helps to take there mind of and I find that switching toys every day works better than just keeping a lot in the cage.

Bar biting (unless it is attention seeking behaviour) can either stem from the desperate desire to join the other group or actually from fear/protection of the own territory. I am not a fan of spraying bars with horrible stuff like vinegar etc. at all. If necessary, rather place an opaque divider in there and see how that goes.

How well is your girl getting on with her companion and how fear-aggressive was she when you tried bonding?

She's very skittish with me so I doubt it's attention seeking.

She gets on ok with her cage mate not best friends. On bonding her cage mate got upset which in turn upset her she showed no agression just hid and ran a lot.

I may try them at the weekend again. I'm slightly worried she'll be fine in the group and her cage mate won't be!

Alfie usually bites the bars on the hutch when he sees me enter the shed with a full bowl of fresh nom noms! He's telling me, "hurry up dad, me is 'ungry!" :))
