Biting the bars of the cage

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas..my charlie the last 3 nights has taken to going mad biting the bars of his cage just for a short while but really going for it which is totally out of character. I have tired distracting him with hay and i even took him out for a cuddle but when i put him back he started again. He has a wooden tunnel he chews normally and also he is eating and drinking okay so i am competely confused to why he is starting to do it... but he doesn't do it any other time of day apart from a few hours on a night. Not sure whats going on really.
 
Well thankfully charlie didn't bite the bars last night for the first time in the last few nights so i am hoping it has all settled down :))
 
I hope so too - it is a boredom and attention seeking behaviour in a single piggy.
 
He is not lonely he has the company of another piggie he just has a divide between them because they have not long been seperated for fighting.
