hi everyone
as some of you may or may not know, my darling baby peony gave birth to 2 babies unexpectedly. she has been a wonderful mum up until now and i mean REALLY GOOD. we had to remove the little boar, bertie 4 ish weeks ago, however not to the day, we left it3 days. she is left with the little sow, bluebelle, and up until now they've been fine, but peony keeps nipping bluebelle, it doesn't bleed or anything, but blubelle screams :'( i have also noticed that they lie apart in their bed, when once they were snuggled. is this normal behaviour and just growing up, or should i put bluebelle with pansy (peony's sister who had to be removed when the babies were born as peony was getting protective? :-\

:) I've had some really nasty mother and daughter pairings and have split them up. Some have adored each other and there hasn't been any trouble at all. Mum might be trying to 'chase' her daughter off but of course because she's in captivity that can't happen ::)
I would try Peony with another adult, can you seperate her from Bluebell? Or maybe a 3some? Or just give Peony some space and then reintroduce them. Problem with behaviour its all trial and error :)

i could try peony with pansy, but last time i tried, peony really went for pansy. the other option is for bluebelle to go with pansy and peony be on her own until bertie gets the snip, but thats likely to be september at the earliest. or i could try having pansy peony and bluebelle all together, but i don't think that will help. :-\ what do you think? :'(

my lily headbutts her girls when she thinks there beening bad i had to movr one of her girls amber out and put her with my 2 older girls
but she dosne do it as much now she did it more when she was pregnat with her 4 boys which are now 8 weeks old

my lilly not like beening a mummy at all she was a bit more bonded with the 4 boys she had

but the first lot she had 3 girls and a boy and she did like them at all she did use to feed them and stuff

Try Bluebelle and Pansy together and see how that goes and give Mum a break for a while, then you could gradually try and introduce Peony starting with run time together maybe.

It could just be a part of them growing up... maybe the mother is getting bored of the baby being so clingy and wants her to be a little more independent

thanks everyone, i'll let you know how i get on, also peony might be extra up tight because of her skin problems at the moment. :)

If she has a skin problem then maybe looking on the bright side she is trying to keep the abby away so that it doesn't catch it...always look on the bright side O0
