my guinea pig keeps biting me, he isn’t very old however he will do this anytime I have him out. I don’t even have to be holding him for him to do this, he won’t just bite my fingers. He has bit my knees and my ankle bones. He has broke my skin slightly as well. It isn’t because he needs to urinate or because he can smell food because he has bit me in places other than my hands. I also don’t have to be holding him. He will just come up to me and bite me. Any suggestions or tips would really help

Hi and welcome

Is your piggy a single or has he got a companion?

Please take the time to read these guide here to make friends with him in his own instinctively understood language.
If he is a single, the best thing you can do is a same sex companion for 24/7 company that guinea pigs need; guinea pigs are group animals and not wired to be on their own. It can make them very lost/defensive and you the object of dominance behaviours/attention seeking habit lacking the vital social interaction that they need .
If you get a second piggy, please make sure that you have a large enough cage and that you double check the gnder of both piggies before you introduce. You can find guides on cage size, sexing and bonding/social behaviours together with the guides below in our new owners' collection to help you to a good start.
