we have notice basil biting fingers he bit my daughter and drew blood yest i thought they were mellow dont usually bite he went to nip me but i distracted him

Guinea pigs can bite when frightened or hurt; especially young ones can draw blood when spooked. Perhaps she wasn't holdiing him right, or he got spooked or he DID NOT WANT to be held at all.

Some pluckier natures tweak fingers to say that they are not pleased.

I have got one who has pluckier nature, he has started to nip on the odd occasion, never drawn blood though. Just their way of telling you leave me alone.

yes possibly it. Some piggies may just smell the food and think that is something to bite! I alway make sure I wash my hands after if I have just been cooking when I am getting them out!
