End of last week I casually found a couple of grape sizes lumps on Bitsy's neck, upon inspecting closer I found a 3rd one. Appointment with vet booked for today and it is highly probable she has lymphoma

Vet found at least 5 different sized/shaped lumps in the neck region and also on her groin area. She said whilst not impossible it's highly improbable they are abscesses or fatty lipomas and it is highly likely it is lymphoma. Vet offered possibility of doing a fine needle aspiration to confirm diagnosis but I'm inclined not too as treatment options would not be different. It would not be wise to operate and remove as many lumps. They are not keen on steroids so she's starting a course of Zithromax and anti-inflammatories.

Thought I'd share here. I know many of you have lost pigs to lymphoma.

Here's my trouble maker (well, one of them!)

I am very sorry! Lymphoma or likely lymphoma is not a diagnosis you want to hear! :(
Sending my vibes!

Oh no, I am so sorry. Just keep her pain free is my advice. Treacy didn't suffer at all from her diagnosis to the moment she started to go to the bridge and we took her to help her along the way. Massive hugs Suzy x x

I'm really sorry to hear this. Big hugs to you and Bitsy x

:( Very sorry to hear this. I lost my Maya to this nasty disease early last month. Please keep us updated with her progress. I would be interested to hear how Bitsy does on Zithromax. Fingers and paws crossed for you!

So sorry to hear this! I havent experienced this with any of mine thankfully but i know its a horrible disease. Hope she lives comfortably for a good while yet x

I am so sorry to hear this I lost my Erika to lymphoma last December. We managed to keep her pain free with metacam until she was ready to go to the bridge and we took her to the vets to be helped on her way. We too chose not to treat with steroids.

Please keep us updated xx

So sorry to hear this - big hugs to you x

Sorry to read your sad news. Just would like to share this with you. In August 2015 our girl Sandy was taken to the vets, she had been under the weather with weight loss. The vet diagnosed multiple swollen glands in her 'arm pits', groin and around her neck. She to thought most likely lymphoma. Like you we were distraught over this but we took the option of a fine needle aspiration. 4 samples from 4 different sites. To our amazement the results came back not as lymphoma but infected basal cells. She went on a regime of septrin and metacam. She's still with us. Sending love and hugs to you and your little one xx

I'm really sorry. I hope she has many more good days with you xx

The glands have only recently gone down. She still has a small daily dose of metacam. For what ever reason if that stops her weight drops. Still not 100% sure what was/is going on with her. I think if any of our other pigs had lumps come up I would go down the aspiration route again. Just so I would know what I/we were dealing with. X

Bitsy has tucked in nicely into her breakfast this morning but I was a bit worried with her last night. She seemed much quieter than normal and was breathing quite hard, with occasional rasping noises. She is already on antibiotics so there wasn't much I could do. I decided to wait and see how she is today and the hard breathing/ noises are gone. I do wonder if it's her body starting to react to the lymphoma or if she simply had something stuck up her nose that she then coughed up.

When she had her benign lipoma removed from her groin last December she loved the metacam but this time round she's not so keen on it. She's also not keen on the Zithromax but I have heaps of practice with this as her sister Itsy is on long term Zithromax for her re-ocurrant neck abscess.

Sorry she has had such a rough night, but it's good that she's more perky this morning. It's so hard not knowing qiute what the future holds for them, but hopefully the meds will help her and she will continue to improve x

aww so sorry to hear :( Wilbur has two large lumps on his neck, inline with his vocal cords. My vet isn't keen to aspirate without putting him under. AS Wilbur is nearly 6 and very happy in himself I've opted not to do this. Interestingly he lost his wheek a while before I discovered the lumps (which was in September).
He has been a little quiet this week and breathing hard but other than that he's really well and I'm not going to interfere unless I really have to (to either make him pain free or help him over the bridge). Best wishes to your girl hun, fingers crossed we have them both for some time yet!xx

Bitsy has passed away overnight :( I am heartbroken, especially as I also lost my oldie girlie Estee a couple of weeks ago.

I know lymphoma would take her sooner from me but I didn't expect it this soon. I wish I could have had a few more weeks with her

So sorry to read of your loss Lymphoma is a horrible illness glad she got to pass at home with her family.

My little Pebbles went overnight to when it was her time. Very sorry for your loss.

I'm so very sorry for your loss :( My Erika lived for just two weeks after diagnosis until we made the decision to help her over the bridge. With Ena, we had to help her to the bridge on the day of diagnosis due to a wound not healing because of the cancer.

Lymphoma is an awful desease :( but please find comfort that she died peacefully at home xx

So, so sorry. We lost our little girl on Sunday so know what your going through. Sending you huge hugs x

Aw.. I'm really sorry... Sending you tons of hugs.
She was lovely.
Popcorn free Bitsy x

I'm so very sorry that you didn't have longer with your beautiful Bitsy. Popcorn free precious girlie x

So sorry :( at least it was relatively quick and not a drawn out passing. I had the same happen with BonBon, she just decided it was her time, and passed in a matter of hours. Doesn't make it any easier loosing them, but no amount of time she'd have had with you would have prepared you for this moment, and you'd still feel the same empty lost feeling, and the what ifs after. Hugs x

I am truly sorry to hear this,Please find comfort in the fact that she passed away at home with everyone she loved xx
