So I tried introducing my dog and one of my guinea pigs today. I sat down holding the piggy, and my dog came over for a sniff. She started licking Matilda and all of a sudden bit her. (I’ve now learnt my lesson and my dog won’t be going anywhere near my piggies!)
She’s got a strange mark left from the bite, and quite a big patch where her fur was pulled out (I’ll post a picture if I can).
She’s eating normally, just still a little skittish when I move. Does anyone have any tips on what to do? My plan is to keep an eye on her, and make sure to keep it clean. Any tips? Thanks 10D06C73-5A7C-4267-992B-CDC5587ED126.webp

If I was you I would take her to the vets for a check up to make sure she doesn’t have any internal injuries.

As for the bite mark in the meantime, gently clean it with saline solution which you can do by mixing a pint of cooled boiled water with a teaspoon of salt.

Keep her comfortable and quiet in case she is shocked.

Best to keep your dog away from your piggies in future.

A vet vist needed.
It was not what you expected and i agree keep your dog away at all times. Dogs are very crafty and will wait a long long time to attack. Pls remember this.
Sorry and hope piggie is ok and no long term damage a vet trip will help this.

just an update - matilda is doing so much better! she’s still skittish and doesn’t like being handled (she was like that before but she seems to be a little worse) so i’m taking it easy on her. kept it clean and got it vet checked, everything was ok! the bite has healed up really well so we’re just waiting for her fur to grow back!

Thanks for the update. I’m glad you had her vet checked and that she’s ok
