just tiny black flecks-are these mites?if so can i please get some advice whats best to treat them with how do i treat them and where have they got them from?
thanks

mites are invisible to the naked eye so it wont be mites and I think if it was fleas it would be obvious as you would see them move ect....

not too sure what it could be =/

ive just given them both a wash, not that they were impressed but it needed to be done

one of my boars starts grinding his teeth at me when I walk into the bathroom with him :))

Black flecks might be static lice; they are not as common as the white running lice, but do happen. Treat with lice shampoo - for example lice'n'easy from gorgeousguineas.com.

ive just put in an order from gorgeous guineas for some lice shampoo and other bits,is there anything i can do while I'm waiting for the shampoo to arrive? any idea where they wouldve got static lice from?would it be from hay?

Probably from their hay.

If you really want to, you can give them a bath with a normal shampoo beforehand, but lice are usually not as devastating as mites; they usually get only bad in connection with neglect or other health problems.

When you give them a bath with the insecticidal shampoo from Gorgeousguineas, make sure that you scrub their cage/hutch well (if you want to, disinfect it with an approprite spray) and change the hay, so they will return to a clean home.

i have given them a wash today,it was when washing them i noticed the black flecks their skin is fine, doesnt seem irritated at all.
I'm annoyed if its the hay ive used 2 types of hay for them one from wilkinsons and the other a meadow hay from the pet shop.i dont really have anywhere else to go for hay, well not local anyway :(

I linked Wilkinsons products to my rats getting mites - I used to get the bedding and so did my friend and they both got mites at the exact same time however everything else we used was different..I've never used a wilkinsons animal product since.

hmmm i have heard things about wilkos but ive used the hay for my rabbits and theyve been fine and its my most convenient shop for pet supplies as my local pet shop closed down.but i am going to assume its wilkos hay and continue to use the one i got from a pet shop,i`ll try and get there again this week or go up to asda.

It is a very lucky pig that does not get at least one session of mites.
