I am new here. I just got my babies, Peter and Xyzal a few weeks ago. They are very sweet. Yesterday I noticed a black spot above Peter’s nose. It wasn’t there before. I searched the internet but could not find anything that looks similar. My daughter dropped Peter accidentally a few days ago on the carpet. I am very worried that Peter is going to die. At this moment he looks normal and nothing changes. He eats and drinks like usual. Other than the black spot above it’s nose, the guinea pig skins is clean.

It's not clear in the picture, and it could just be a bruise or a graze, but it could also be fungal, so it would be worth a vet visit to be on the safe side.

You just beat me to it @Reenie! I was going to suggest a vet check too. Anything out of the ordinary and I always take mine to the vet. Take along a friend when you take Peter to the vet to minimise the stress.

I’m with the others.
In any case of concern I take mine to the vets.
Most vets would rather see a piggy with nothing more than an anxious owner than a piggy.

Let us know how things turn out.

Anyway - welcome to the forum you and those adorable piggies

Hi! your picture is not clear enough - is this a bald patch? I would recommend to have it checked by a vet. It is most likely the start of a fungal infection, which can be usually got on top of with good hygiene and appropriate treatment. It is in any case not lethal.

Please note that we are neither legally allowed to diagnose without a hands-on examination nor are we qualified vets. We can tell you when you need to see a vet, help you to ask the right questions to your vet and can support you with additional care tips during the prescribed treatment as well as answer any questions you may have during treatment.
