Bladder sludge

As some of you will know, Eliza had an eye removed on Monday which she is currently recovering from.

I'm not sure if she has bladder sludge or not but as she is currently living on fleece, I have noticed a few calcium deposit areas I know that this is normal but these deposits have a yellowish tinge to them and feel in between powdery and gritty although I'm not 100% certain.

I have waited for her to pee a couple of times and rubbed the fresh pee between my thumb and finger and all feels normal.

All my piggies are already in a low calcium diet so I'm nit sure what to do as the last thing I want is for her to have bladder problems!

Eliza is already taking Baytril and metacam for her eye so it isn't like I can give her Septrin on top.
I am just wondering if the Baytril will help to kill off any nasties if there is anything present, the deposits could may be from the meds she is currently taking and if there is anything else I can do?

Or may be I am being overly cautious?

Eliza is back at the vets on Monday for her second post op check so I could always ask advise then xx

My piggies mainly have salad veggies in their diet rather than high calcium veg such as broccoli, parsley, kale etc although they do get these in low moderation as removing calcium altogether can cause other problems. They also drink filtered water.

I have since been told that antibiotics can play havoc with the urine and as Elkza has been on Baytril for 10 days, I think that could be playing a part.

I am nearly back as am in the process of moving house,so only bobbing on every other ay at the moment - I have a piggy with Bladder sludge and a kidney stone and my fantastic new vet (who has 7 pigs of her own and spays all her females herself) has put me onto vetcare multi modal food - it is very low in calcium and she feeds her bladder pigs on it - I ordered it from vet *.k - I have noticed that it really does make a difference (we ran out for a couple of days over the move and the squeeking when weeing came back - but it goes when back on this food ) - it might well be worth a try.

Do your piggies have low calcium hay too? Baytril is not a great antibiotic for a UTI.

They have meadow and Timothy hay. Barn dried grass or Timothy with dandelion as a treat.

Sorry, Eliza isn't on baytril for a UTI, she's on baytril as she sadly had an eye removal operation last Monday.
