Bladder stone op recovery

Hi folks, Ralph has blood in his urine again. I have spoken to my vet this morning and we're going to try cat Loxicom (1ml per day) and Sulfatrim (0.25ml twice daily) to see if it's an infection. I'm hoping that it is and it clears up but am really worried it could be another stone. It's only a month after the original op.

Sorry I’ve just seen this. Could your vet test his urine to check for infection? So sorry, my Rupert had them on and off after his original stone so I know how frustrating it can be. It is sadly quite common to get more stones after too. If you could get prescribed dog metacam instead of the cat one it would be much easier to give and cost much less for you as well (as it’s 3x the strength of the cat one).
So sorry you and Ralph are having more problems, big hugs x

I had the cat version to hand at home as one of our cats had dental work recently but will enquire about the dog version when I next speak to my vet. Likewise the Sulfatrim was left over from after Ralph's op last month.

It would be useful to get a sample so it can be tested - will need to read up on how to get it!

Thanks, it was upsetting to see the reddish wee again, I just want him to be healthy and happy, dear little thing x

That’s good then, sure you’ve spent enough at vets recently!
Think it is on one of the guides (struggling to remember which!?), I found the best way with Rupert was to give him something to nibble on and getting him in there!

In a washing basket, you know piggies, not long before they need a pee! I just sucked it up with a clean syringe and off to vets! The fresher the better too!
So sorry, I know how hard it is, Rupert had a bit of a nightmare with his continual issues with his bladder over 18months but you’re doing everything you can for him! He’s lucky to have you! :hug:Hope you can get to the bottom of it and get him the right treatment x

An x-ray has today confirmed Ralph has a large bladder stone and a tiny kidney stone. He is booked in for Monday to have the bladder stone removed (it's actually in the bladder this time, not the ureter!) and for an x-ray to double check the kidney stone.

Sorry for the diagnosis :( From what I know, stones can not be removed from the kidneys. All the best for his op for the bladder stone x
Thanks. Yeah, the kidney stone is there to stay 😔 but have decided to get the bladder stone removed to give him a fighting chance of a bit longer with us x
