bladder stone removal

still struggling to get her to eat her hay continuously😔 seems very sleepy and can hear her grind teeth, could it be teeth issues? is this something i need to find a specialist vet for? shes eating all veg, in-fact goes mad for it! drinking too and being a taking meds + syringing critical care.. shes definitely got a lot of fight in her which I'm hoping means she is still eating enough…

Teeth grinding can also be a sign of pain elsewhere in the body than specifically dental issues.
If she wasn’t displaying dental issues before her surgery then it would be pretty unlucky for it to have occurred spontaneously since.

The daily weight checks are your guide to intake

her weight is slowly increasing, but I'm not seeing her eating very much and shes fighting off the critical care after 1ml to the point it’s distressing trying to feed.. i understand nobody can advise on pain meds and it must be okayed from vet but is there anything i could ask for / could her current meds be upped if anyone has good knowledge about this? i wont up them just want to suggest to vet as unfortunately we cant see our pig vet today😢

she weighed in 854 today, currently prescribed: 0.3ml dog metacam x2 a day
0.09ml gabapentin x2 a day

again this is not me asking anyone to tell me what to up them too, rather if it sounds safe to up / introduce something else!

i understand, it was more for me to know if it was safe because the vet isn’t knowledgeable in piggies
Is there any Exotic vet in your area? Try to find an exotic vet experienced in guinea pigs and dont mix with the dosage of your own. Joe started to eat again thanks to gaba, he had a mental block towards hay after a sharp tooth. Gaba helped with both pain and stress. He was prescribed a pretty high dose and was on pink clouds the first time. But he ate. With the vets support I slowly lowered his dose until I could stop giving it. Joe was sensitive to metacam, and did only get gaba. Only thing metacam gave him was diarrhea. When gaba works as intended its very effective on these animals, but you need a vet you can trust when you give this medication.

That teeth grinding could be a sign of pain/discomfort. Joe grinded alot after every toothfix. Before toothfix he used to clench his jaws. Same with my boy that had tooth trapped under tongue - he clenched before the fix, grinded after. Every pigs are different, of course.

I really hope you can find a cavy-savvy vet that can help you and Della to sort this out. Holding both of you in my heart 💜
