Sprite is a 2 year old, unneutered boar. He was born here to one of our rescues, and returned to us around 6 weeks ago along with his brother Minky after their adopters' circumstances changed.

Around a month ago, he began squealing when toileting, which progressed to blood in his urine. Xrays revealed a 0.2mm bladder stone, which he managed to pass himself. Follow up xrays were clear, and squealing massively reduced.

Over the past few days, symptoms have returned. Back to the vets where another x ray revealed two, possible three stones, the largest around 0.3mm.

Weight is stable, still otherwise well, eating and drinking and moving around normally.

Things we are already trying/have already tried...

Loxicom, tramadol and paracetamol for pain relief
Cotrimoxazole in case of infection
Hypovase to allow the stone to pass easier
Cystease
Only get lettuce, pepper, cucumber for veg
Bottled water

Things we are starting/can start...

Potassium citrate
Furosemide
Piggie parcels urinary nuggets
Switching to Timothy only hay
Cranberry in some form
No treats

Is there anthring else we can try? Anything else we can do? Surgery (bladder flush and stone removal) has been considered but then leaves inflamed tissue which will just be a magnet for new stone formation.

Poor little fella.

Sprite you wonderful boy I'm so sorry you're poorly again 😥
Was there a post on here a while ago about trying to increase water intake to help reduce stones, offering extra syringes of water and rinsing veggies etc? 🤔

Sending love and healing vibes to beautiful Sprite ❤️
I hope you can pass those stones little man 👍

Poor boy Sprite! Sending hugs and healing vibes 💓💓 🙏

I haven't any experience of bladder flushes unfortunately. But I do have most of a bag of Piggy Parcels' Urinary Support pellets I can send you post-haste if you would like them.
That would be AMAZING thank you so much! ❤️
How do I go about getting my details to you now there's no message function?

Yes we're upping water intake as much as we can, he's a good little drinker anyway bless him x

Polyphenols are allegedly good for the bladder. I think they occur naturally in orange coloured vegetables. They might help. Beautiful Sprite, I hope he gets better soon 🙏

My vet recommended my boy to have Alfavet UROcare after bladder stone surgery to prevent new stones. Sadly he passed the bridge before we could try this product, but I'm very pleased with Alfavets probiotics and other products I tried.

Sending healing vibes to handsome mister Sprite 💜

one of my girls has a stone atm and I am also praying that she can pass it herself 🥺🙏 in terms of potassium citrate, how much is the dosage? I have the liquid. I seem to think it’s about 0.12 twice a day but I’d like to check. Does it need diluted?

Sorry I have no advice but also 🙏 for your little one ❤️‍🩹

I'll check how much he's having and get back to you. Fingers crossed it works for both our piggies! 🤞

My vet suggested using 15mls of water syringe twice aday.pottasium citrate once daily or split the dose twice daily.1 tablet of cystease daily mixed in 1mls of water used gabepentin for pain relief twice daily. This was for bladder sludge piggie.I found this regime eliminated bladder sludge, and it did not reoccur.
I've a piggie with IC,I use piggie parcel pellets, now my piggies does not sqeaul when passing urine, seems to have resolved the issue.
I hope Sprite gets better soon.😊
