Bladder stones/sludge

I know me too! See I can afford that, thing is one of my girls got really ill a while ago I taken her to emergency vets they checked her over diagnosed her with chest infection they kept her in over night with oxygen mask and a drip that cost me £120 and another £25 for her antibiotics I don’t mind that what bothers me is the amount off money for one X-ray! Once they do an X-ray then I’ll need £120 and more money for an operation (if it is serious) then money for after care I physically cannot do it

It is expensive :( again, my vet charges for the surgery and the medication but then aftercare isn't charged extra on top of the surgery.

I once had a piggy who had complications after an eye removal op. She was at the vets daily to have it flushed and I wasn't charged a penny as it was in with the initial surgery cost.

Emergency vets are expensive but I hope your other piggy is ok now.

I'm really hoping that you can find a vet who is more reasonably priced whilst still being good with Guinea pigs

Those prices do seem high for 1 x-ray, but it also sounds like that might include the cost a consultation too (80 for an x-ray and 30 - 40 for a consultation on top of that?), as a vet won't allow you to just come in and have an x-ray done without first examining your piggy.
Sadly veterinary treatment is expensive, and in my experience it always seems to come in multiple lots!
We also set money aside for vets bills, but one of our piggies recently had a severe episode of bladder sludge (out of normal hours of course!) and we burnt through the entire vet fund for the year in 3 weeks!

Wow! Well milo registered to Wigan vets4pets has been for years and consultation and a quick nail trim is £10, when I first got him he was 2 years old I got him neutered for £50 so I’ve gone there ever since. I’ve rang 17 vets in my area and we have a appointment for a consultation at a different vets tomorrow and then they’ll talk over wether a ultrasound (£80) or a X-ray (£100) is best for him and go from there really

Glad that you have him booked in to a vet. Ultrasounds are great (my piggies have had them in the past) but please be warned that if nothing is found on ultrasound, an X-ray may still be needed on top just to double check but that really is worst case scenario and it’s up to you and your vet to decide on what’s best
