Bladder tumor.

Ok. So I just heard back from the specialist. She said we can try an anti steroidal inflammatory drug called piroxicam? It aslo has an anti tumor property which may help her. She also recommended a biopsy to confirm, but my vet said we could try the medication without surgery as that is what most dog owners do. Apparently the most common type of tumor in guinea pigs is also theost common in dogs as well. Does anyone have experience with this medication? I am going to call my vet Wednesday when he is back in the office to talk to him. Thanks so much for your help!

Well it's day 3 of both cystease and piroxicam. Zelda is happily taking both with no problem. Her appetite is great still, so I don't think it's hurting her belly yet. I really hope this helps and she can be with me for a long time!

Sorry to hear about your pigs suspected tumour. Hopefully the specialist can shed some more light. The fact she managed to gain weight is a very good sign, hopefully she maintains that for a good while to come. Metacam will deal with any secondary inflammation and cystease would be good to calm the bladder too. It's a glucosamine supplement for cystitis in cats. If you do get it off Amazon, you open the capsule and empty the powder into a little pot. Add some water from a 1ml syringe, mix and draw it back up into the syringe. If your vet recommends half or a quarter a capsule at each dose, just half or quarter whatever is in the syringe and leave the other half for future doses. It will need a little shake but keeps fine for a day or so. You are doing all you can, just keep an eye on that weight daily so you can notice any changes early on. There are other pain killers that can be added in further down the line if she needs it. Hope she stays comfortable for a good while to come x
Thank you so much! I found some cystease. So far she takes it just fine.
