Maple had been getting a wet bottom constantly so she’s been on antibiotics for a UTI which has helped as she’s not as wet anymore. However yesteday i noticed there’s blood all around the hutch, I got her out and monitored her for a bit and the blood isn’t in her wee it’s just coming out randomly here and there. it’s like 2 seperate issues going on. She has had a scan of her bladder and uterus and ovaries and there wasn’t anything concerning. (This was for some lumps she has)

I took her to the vets today and they’ve said they want to do a camrea up her to see what is causing this as it could be a tumour, polyps or a tear of some sort . She’s having it done on Monday but I’m so nervous as if it’s something the vet can’t get rid of he’s given me the option that I can choose to not wake her up.

Has anyone had any experience with bleeding and having a camrea ?

Hi oh my word how terrifying for you, I hope one of the experts will be here soon to advise as I have no experience 💐

Bumping. I hope it's something they can treat 🙏

Hi

I am very sorry to hear that. Do you mean a camera? No, that is a new one for me and - I think - any of us on here.

Cases of bleeding from the reproductive tract have nearly always turned out as cancer in the ovaries and have generally resulted in a spaying operation.

If you have legitimate concerns re. the extra cost for putting her under for a mini-camera exploration and then an immediate or separate spaying operation, please ask for a cost estimate and also discuss the necessity and risks of longer stretches GA in guinea pigs with your vet. There is currently enormous pressure on vet for proposing unnessary costly procedures by the owners of bought up and sold on vet clinics.

she’s stopped bleeding I think so now I’m worrying whether to put her through it or not tomorrow . But it could always come back 😢

Hi please can you let me know what you did for your guinea that experienced those symptoms? Our guinea who’s 7 experienced the same. Very strange , blood all over the bedding in the hutch, I couldn’t figure it out? She’s obviously an older girl , I’m worried it’s kidney failure? She’s lost weight and is drinking a lot. If you have any advice I’d be very grateful.
