Hi all,

Well for the first time OH tried to clip the pigs nails,i knew it was a bad idea mallethead.
First pig was Ralph and he cut the nail to short and now its bleeding:(,what can i put on it other than cornflour?

It will clot up quickly on its own, but if you're anything like me you want to stop it bleeding partly to stop it spreading everywhere!

Normal flour is fine. I've even used very finely ground coffee granules in a pinch!

Have you got any styptic powder/"quick stop"/veterinary wound powder for the dogs?

P.S. Don't blame the OH too much, he has to learn at some point. :))

Has your OH got a syptic shaving stick? that might be of use.

I'm not worried about it spreading lol,i just worried for ralph,he didnt even make a noise when it happened (tough pig),
i will put some flour on it thanks;),
i dont have any of the doggy powder its not given out that often here.
Haha funny you say that,he had a sulk because i took Ralph right off him and then growled at him for hurting him and then apologised to ralph for letting the mean man touch himrolleyes,
you could say I'm a little over protective;)
thanks again xx

I should have said it's used by gents that wet shave and are accident prone with their razor, it helps to stop them bleeding when they nick themselves.

haha no,OH is bald by choice and has been shaving his head and face for 6 years, come to think of it i havent seen him have an accident yet touch wood

Here we go again...........there is NO need to put anything on a bleeding nail.
Leave well alone.
Flour or any other powder has no effect on either the bleeding time or the clotting time.

thanks,
i did decide to just put him back in his cage and check on it before i go to bed and then use the flour if needed as i know that usually they are ok with no treatment,it seems to have stopped anyway

Oh no. Not my favourite boy Ralph. Give him a hug from me..
