Hi, have noticed today that my guinea pigs nipple is bleeding slightly and also slightly inflamed. Has anyone experienced this before? He has a vet appointment at 3:30 but was hoping to get an idea of what it could be. Thank you

Oh gosh, glad you have a vets appointment booked as it sounds like it is definitely needed

We managed to book one for 3:30 which was amazing. It isn’t constantly bleeding and haven't noticed anything since cutting his nails but want to make sure he’s okay

Hi!

Good that you have booked him in already before coming on here.

Anyway, we can only guess; it needs a hands-on vet examination. There is a chance that it could be a mammary tumor, which can occur in either gender. They are not all that uncommon. They can be either benign or malign and are usually comparatively easy to remove, so please don't panic. It sounds like you have caught it early. ;)
Guinea Lynx :: Mammary Tumor

He has already had a major operation and currently getting over bladder issues so unsure whether they would want to operate again as he has already been through a lot

So hoping it’s something they can treat with medicine rather than an operation bless him

All the best. These things never happen at a convenient time.

Unfortunately they think it is a mammary tumor so there is nothing they can do for him so we just have to give him the best quality life. He is on some batril to see if the lump may go down a bit. But for now he is happy eating his grass and will continue as long as he is happy :(

My Bill had a mammray tumour remove and sailed through the op with no further problems. We found a small lump just behind his nipple and when the vet squeezed it it started to bleed. We opted for removal that day.
Hope your boy has many happy months x

They will not put him through surgery because he has only just had a major tumor removed from him side and they were very surprised he made it. We were so happy he got through it but now a couple of weeks on he’s developed another one :(

Completely understand, there is only so much you want to put them through x
