So, my disabled Piggie norman is blind on his left and almost on his right. The left looks as though it was from birth and the right has come on over time.

His left has always had two pure white rings (the middle being the biggest). He's always tilted his head, making use of his 'good eye'

I've tonight come home and got him out and noticed he's a lot more excited than usual and not tilting at all. The biggest white ring from the middle of the eye seems clearer, more cloudy than pure White or something.

I've messed about with a torch and he's reacting to it shining in an eye he's always been entirely blind in!

Not only that, the White looks like it's inside the eye. As opposed to before it was more scar tissue looking. If that makes sense. BUT it seems to be floating!? He seems to be looking around and the White either goes and he has a semi cloudy eye, then he looks up and it comes back.

Inknow unsound mental? But is it even possible for a the vision to return? I have never seen or heard anything like it!

No weeping, doesn't look sore, eating normally etc just seems a little more excited and curious than usual!

It happened to my Taffy as well in the last weeks of her life when the lens with the fully developed cataract somehow detached itself and started floating in the glass body of the eye. It meant that she regained her vision to a certain extent. There is a slight chance that the floating lens may cause problems over time, so please keep an eye out for signs of infection (redness) or pain (sunken eye) by checking regularly in the future.

Some guinea pigs can be born with fully developed cataracts, others develop congenital cataracts as young adults.

Thanks, it's not something I have ever come accross.

Do you think a vet trip is in order to be sure? I'm undecided

There is likely nothing your vet can do, but it may be worth having the eye checked to get confirmation of what is going on. My Taffy's was the first time I have ever come across it, too. It is something that is rather unusual.
