I was holding my guinea pig this evening and i noticed that one of her eyes had a blue film over it. I haven't noticed her struggling to see things though. What could the blue film be ?

Are you sure she hasn't scratched it at all? It could be some cloudiness from an injury to the eye or it could be something like a cataract. Only a vets visit would tell for certain

You’d need to visit a vet to be sure, but we have a blind elderly sow, and also a couple of piggies in the rescue that have cataracts which look similar to your description!
Always best to check with a vet if you’re unsure however :)

If it does turn out that your piggy is blind, or going blind, then don’t worry.
My Merab developed cataracts and is now blind.
She moves more cautiously outside the cage but her blindness hasn’t stopped her from being top pig.
I’m sure she plays on it sometimes so that I am persuaded to give her her veggies under her nose so she doesn’t have to share.

I would get it checked out at the vet in case it's an injury, like maybe a hay poke. If it does turn out she's losing/lost her sight, you'll hardly know the difference once she gets used to it. I fostered a couple of blind boys a while back and they managed just fine.
