The whole family are feeling really upset and very sad.
Noticed this morning our GP Charcoal was not eat and was sat in the corner of box all fluffed up and looking unhappy. Managed to get a vet appointment about 50 minutes later. She gave him an injection to try to get his gutt moving and told us to syringe feed him mashed food pellets, which we tried. But poor Charcoal had no more fight in him and passed away in my arms this afternoon. He was a rescue guinea and we have had him and his brother for 3 years. We were not sure how old he was when we got him. He was such a little character, very naughty, but such a loving guinea. I hope we gave him a good life, just wished I could of got him to the vets quicker.

HUGS

I am so sorry - sadly, with bloat you are up against it, even if you have your piggy seen asap. It is one of these few nasty things that can happen out of the blue to any piggy.

We have a Rainbow Bridge Pets section where you are most welcome to post a tribute to Charcoal when you feel up to it.

Sorry to hear that you lost your little fella.

I just wanted to say don't blame yourself - it may not have made the difference getting him to to the vet any quicker. Stopping eating and gastric stasis can be a symptom of something more serious - the vet will always try to treat the symptoms but it's not always possible the cure the cause. You gave him a good life with you and did your best at the end.

So sorry to read your sad news. My little piggie has been suffering with this but now seems to be fine thankfully. It was touch and go for a few days. You can't blame yourself and you acted quickly and did what you could. Sounds like your piggie had the most caring owner. What would they do without caring people like us to look after them. Hugs to you x

So very sorry to read your post, bloat is such a dreadful condition. I do hope you will post a thread in the Rainbow Bridge section of the forum as it's a lovely way to remember your beloved piggy.

So sorry for your loss.
Please don't blame yourself though, sometimes these things are unavoidable.
RIP Charcoal.

Thanks everyone for your support. I find myself checking his brother Smokey everyone moment I can to make sure his eating and is happy. His been given lots and lots of hugs.I hope he dosen't start pineing for his brother. Not sure when it will be the right time to find a new friend for Smokey. I know he should not be on his own for too long. Jake

He should be given some time to mourn the loss of his cage mate and then after a few days you could try boar dating at a rescue where he can choose his own friend. Thanks for keeping us updated, it's good that you are keeping a close eye on Smokey.
