If a piggie has bloat do they eat at all?

One of are pigs looks swollen but she is still eating abit. But doesn't seem terribly interested in food.

Please see a vet and take her off any fresh food. 'Eating a bit' means that she is definitely NOT well; bloated guinea pigs can still eat somewhat depending on the severity and especially at the onset. Severe bloat can kill.

Yea is get the pig on the right meds if I was you. Dot had bloat the other night, didn't realise my wife had fed kale whilst I was away, I managed to massage it out, but she was still eating fully and it was only a lit rle bloat

Her poops are fine though

The poo output is running 1-2 days behind the intake, which is why poo watch is not as effective a monitoring instrument as weighing, which gives you the 'now'; with bloat you have to factor in the weight of gas, too.

@SkyPipDotBernie Glad that Dot had only mild bloat but that is for a vet to decide. Undertreating and underestimating bloat can cost lives!

She's fine though thanks no that's why I put I'd see a vet to Skullbits. Dot was eating fully and she tends to bloat up on kale, I forgot to tell the wife not to feed it, stupid me!

This is however not quite the point here, is it?

None of us on here can go and check a piggy hands-on as to how severe a potentially life threatening condition is. Bloating can be the whole width from very mild to killing within hours. If a piggy is not eating normally, then the bloat is bad enough to require a vet check.

Well she's moving around and eating hay now. She looks fine now.

Please take your piggy to the vet, sweetie. Better safe than sorry, whether you think she is fine now or not.
The only people who can properly decide that are vets, as we are not.
I lost my princess recently, and bloat was a part of her symptoms that she had hidden very well - we were treating her for it by vet advice but bloat gets very serious very fast. Guineapigs are prey animals and they hide their ailments until they can’t and by then it can be too late.
Long story short, even if you go and it’s nothing, surely it’s better to have the chance to catch it quick.

If you even have a hint of suspicion of bloat the best advice is see a vet
If bloat has entered your mind for any reason relating to your piggy and it’s eating, behaviour or any other habits the best advice is see a vet.

Bloat is like a silent killer. It comes in waves. It strikes suddenly. It comes back even after you think you’ve got it under control.

We will try but unfortunately with covid 19 are vets have some pritty tigh restrictions going on atm. Also are work place is at risk of closing very soon.
