Well my son's guinea pig Fizzi looked a little large yesterday morning, but ok!But by 6pm she was huge like a balloon and not eating a bad sign. She was shivering so I put her on a hot water bottle covered with t-towel.Phoned the out of hour vet £70 charge before I got through the door! I couldn't afford that so had to chance that Fizzi would be ok by morning for an appointment! Worried most of the night, got Fizzi to take a little water, noticed that she had had a pooh. O0 By 9pm she had gone done to half size!So this morning up at 6.30am to check she was ok so tried her with a very small piece of cucumber she ate it looking for more,so gave her small piece a apple wolfed that down.Phoned the vet at 9am got appointment for 10am ish.Seen the vet said that the hot water bottle must have worked!Anyway she gave Fizzi an injection for her 'gut' and some pro-biotics to give her over the next few days! She also has a large lump on her back leg,but vet said that it was ok to leave it alone, vet even checked it to see if it was an abscess! Wondered what food should Fizzi be eating for the next few days! It only cost £25 for the vets better than the £100 it could have cost last night!

I have never experienced this with my guinea but I would feed her dry food and plenty of hay. I'm not sure about veggies/fruit. Hopefully someone else may be able to help you more :)

if it was bloat you are very lucky! we lost our dear petal to bloat a bit more than 3 years ago, the lack of vet knowledge here in oz didn't help. they in the end sedated her and put a tube down her thoart. petal got rid of the bloat but the stress was too much and she had a heart attack and slipped away alone at the vets. whom charged us for her staying in over night but no one was there watching her! :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: even now our hearts ache for petal and especially the fact she had to leave us alone with no one there for her. :'( :'( :'( i would suggest small feeds of hay and grass for a few days so as to not over load her tummy. sending you and fizzi hugs and cuddles :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
