Bloat - what next?!

Well Toffee still has bloat poor boy. He had iv metaclopromide again last Friday and the bloat got worse overnight (not sure why). Back at the vet Saturday and he gave me 0.2mls metaclopromide twice daily and 0.4mls zan-tac twice daily to try for a few days. It's just ever so slightly better, but not good still.

He's still eating well, pooping and drinking. He's had some small bits of cuc and celery and a small chunk of carrot but that's it. Eating plenty hay and pellets.

What on earth do we do next? The vet mentioned maybe doing an x-ray to see what's going on. I'm at a loss. Any advice please? Thanks :-)

Have you tried massaging his tummy or taking him for a ride in the car? I hear these are good for bloat, sorry no experience myself so not realy any help x

Poor Toffee, I'd get him back to the vets. As Chloe has said tummy massaging can help move the gas.. Hope he gets well soon.

hi guys, yes I've been tummy massaging but he's not happy at me doing it. I can try some more rides in the car. I've ordered a little vibrating cushion as well as I heard that can help. I just worry that the longer it goes on could be doing him damage and don't know what to do.

Got an appointment at the vet tomorrow morning.

Please stop giving him any veg - until the gut has stabilised and his poo output is normal. A hay and pellet only diet for the time being so not to aggravate the cause of the gas and start the whole cycle again.

Update

We have seen the vet this morning. He doesn't feel too worried as Toffee doesn't seem in pain, although I'm sure he must be a bit uncomfortable. However, he's pretty chipper, eatings loads as usual and pooing. Continuing with the zan-tac and no veg for time being as the vet said the last things he wants to do is anything invasive. If it continues long-term or get worse, I'll go back and he'll do an x-ray.

He gave me some samples of the Burgess Excel blackcurrant & oregano complete food cubes and said to put Toffee on that and nothing else (take his hay and current pellet food out). Reviews on it seem to be very good. I thought I'd wait until I'm home later to watch him before taking his hay and pellets out and trying this instead. If he absolutely hates it, I don't want him to go without food all day.
