where do I get fibreplax from & what do I do for bloat.
Had 2 injections another 2 tonight, but hubby doesn't know what for.

Doesn't the vets sell it? When we had it for one of ours, we got it from the vet who checked him over.

fibreplex comes in a premade syringe !pineapple is condidered to have enzymes in to help digestion, but I'm unsure how appropriate it is for guinea pigs.is it a probiotic you have been given?electric toothbrush to massage tummy can help, exercise if piggie is well enough.gripe water 0.3 mls ive given ,but i would get advise from your vet.Vet uk sell fibreplex, but it will take time to arrive.I hope your piggie recovers soon.

Bloat is very painful, pain relief is advised, injections you need to ask the vet.metachlopromide and zantac/ranitidine,are motility drugs that are often used, but i would strongly suggest you contact your vet to see what was given,if you are not sure.:)

You can order fibreplex online from one of the vet stuff suppliers, like viovet, hyperdrug etc.
Until then, stick to adding probiotics to your syringe feed.

With acute bloat, your piggy has likely been given zantac (vet version of ranitidine) and a gut stimulant (either emeprid or metoclopramide). Ring up the clinic or ask the vet tonight. Ask for painkiller additionally as severe bloat is very painful.

Please vibrate regularly with an electric toothbrush handle to help shift the gas. That is the vibrating utensil you can most easily get hold of; a cheap electric toothbrush from the supermarket will do. Make sure that you have/get batteries, too!

You can additionally give gripe water up to 0.2-0.3 ml up to every three hours to help break down the gas bubbles. It is not as effective with severe bloat as in mild cases, but with severe acute bloat you are in a situation where you want to throw the kitchen sink at your piggy in the hope of pulling it through. Again, you get it from the baby section of a supermarket.

Top up with syringe feed and water, little but often to keep the guts moving.
