Yesterday I noticed my little girl Ruby looked awfully chubby. I picked her up and her stomach felt like what I can only describe as a balloon. She also feels a bit firmer than normal. Afraid she might be bloated I had my mom watch over her when I went to school. She seems to be eating, drinking, and pooping fine. I would rush her into the vet, but she does not seem to be in pain. I will try to book an appointment today for Friday or Saturday just to make sure she's ok.

If it is bloat, then I would try to make an appointment as soon as you possibly can.

Has she been eating anything different to normal? Or has her food been prepared any differently?

As she's not suffering at the moment I personally wouldn't start using Simethicone or anything like that. I would however get her out for extra floor time. More running around might shift some of the gas.

And if there's any sign of her getting worse then a vet visit today might be in order.

Definitely get her checked by the vet. Unfortunately bloat can kill quickly if left to its own devices. Stop feeding vegetables until you are sure the bloat has gone, offer only water, hay and pellets. :( I thought that my Paddy had it the other day but it turns out that he didn't, he must have just puffed up because he was cold, but it put my mind at rest knowing that I'd got him checked and got the all clear.

If you ever find yourself in an emergency situation and a vets visit just isn't possible then you can feed your piggy 3ml of gripe water and pop them on a gentle massage pad to help disperse the bubbles in their tummy, then get them checked by a vet as soon as possible.

Good luck, hope that she is ok x

Safest buy far to see your vet,!

Please tell us how you get on :tu:

Thanks for all the advice! @Jaycey @Drezella @gizzy She has not had any changes in her diet recently, but I didn't give her veggies this morning (which she was very upset about). I have been massaging her and will make sure to give her plenty of floor time today. Unfortunately I am extremely busy this week and I cannot visit the vet until Friday.
